Ride Program

Date: Friday, December 13, 2013 – 10:00pm
On the 13th December 2013, the Barrie Police Service Traffic Unit conducted a R.I.D.E. detail in several areas of the City. Chief Greenwood, Councillor Arif Khan from City of Barrie Ward 8, and numerous members of M.A.D.D. Barrie/Simcoe attend to assist in handing out M.A.D.D. Red Ribbons to motorists. In total 458 cars were stopped resulting in one male being arrested and charged for Driving Over 80 Mgs, 17 Roadside tests were administered by officers, (2)- three day suspensions were handed out for drivers blowing a ‘warn’ on the roadside device. A single 7 day suspension was handed out along with a Highway Traffic Act VIP suspension also for 7 days.

Though arrests were down this evening in comparison to the last R.I.D.E. detail, one arrest is too many! Please ensure that if you plan to consume alcohol or any type of drug, that you plan for a designated driver, a taxi home, or use public transit. The chance of driving while impaired is one that can lead to serious injury or death to yourself or another person.

If you drink don’t drive!
