(Bancroft, Ontario) – During the morning hours on the 17th of October 2015, police with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) were conducting traffic patrol on Highway 62 in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands.
Shortly after 7:00 A.M. on that date, a vehicle was observed northbound on Highway 62, south of the community of Maynooth, travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was tracked by police using radar, and found to be travelling in excess of 50 km/hr above the posted speed limit.
Police stopped the vehicle, and charged 46 year old Richard MAIKA of Guelph Ontario with stunt driving. He was issued an appearance notice, and given a first appearance date of the 1st of December 2015, in Bancroft Provincial Offences Court.
Further, the accused’s licence was suspended, and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
