The Owen Sound Police Service have arrested and charged a 31 year old Owen Sound man for 2 counts of theft under five thousand dollars, possession of a controlled substance, and 3 counts of failing to comply with conditions of a probation order.
On Sunday, April 2 nd , 2017 at approximately 12:00 noon the man was observed going through automobiles parked in the 1000 block of 2 nd Avenue East, Owen Sound.
A bystander became suspicious of the man’s behaviour and challenged the culprit, catching him in the act. The thief apologized for his actions and tried to give back items that he had stolen. After engaging the witness in conversation, the culprit provided his name and left the area.
The culprit was observed a short time later a few blocks away behaving in a bizarre manner with a toy gun. Police attended and placed the man into custody without incident. During the subsequent search a quantity of marijuana was located in the man’s possession, as well as additional stolen items. By committing the offences, the man also placed himself in breach of conditions of his probation.
The accused is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in May to answer to the allegations.
