Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2 pm Owen Sound Police Service received information that a male wanted by police was present in the area of the 700 block of 9th Avenue East. Police confirmed that the male had a warrant issued for his arrest earlier this month.
Uniform officers and members of Drug Unit attended the area and located the male. Upon observing officers, the male fled on foot running southbound along 9th Avenue East. The male was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. The male was found to be in possession of narcotics including methamphetamine, morphine, hydromorphone, Oxycotin and a small quantity of marihuana. The male was also found to be in possession of a police style collapsible baton.
The 39 year old Owen Sound man is being held for a bail hearing in Owen Sound Court today. The male faces a total of 13 charges related to drug and weapon possession, escape lawful custody and several Court and Probation order breaches.
