Repeat Drunk Driver Caught On London Road

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A 42-year-old driver from Exeter is now facing four criminal code charges following a traffic stop that took place this past weekend. At approximately 9:00 p.m. on October 10, 2015 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a Buick sedan travelling northbound on London Road just south of Exeter. Upon following the Buick the officer noted the vehicle was being driven in an erratic fashion.

A traffic stop was completed and while speaking with the male driver the officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol. In addition, the driver displayed several signs that he was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation. He was subsequently transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he provided samples of his breath to the Intoxilizer Technician. Both of his tests registered over the legal limit.

Upon checking the licence status of the driver the investigating officer was informed the driver did not hold a valid licence and was driving while disqualified.

As a result, 42-year-old Shane CLARKE from Exeter has been charged with Impaired Operation, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and two counts of Driving While Disqualified. He remains in custody with a Bail court appearance schedule for October 13, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
