(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking forward to hosting Stuff-A-Cruiser on December 14, 2013. With the assistance of our policing partners CN Police, Treaty Three Police and Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services (EMS), emergency personnel and community volunteers will be outside of Wal-mart, Canada Safeway, The Place, Cloverleaf Grocery and Beaver Mills Market from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Officers will be collecting nonperishable food products in support of the Salvation Army, United Native Friendship Centre, Sunset Country Metis, Emo Food Band, Rainy River West End Food Bank and the Fort Frances Volunteer Bureau’s Annual Community Christmas Dinner. All items collected will be turned over to these organizations to assist with the goal that everyone in our community is able to enjoy the festive season.
“This year marks the fourth annual Stuff-A-Cruiser event in our Districtâ€Â, says Constable Anne McCoy, “Last year we stuffed over 30 cruisers across our District with help from the public as well as community partners. This initiative is very important because the quantity received ensures there is a secure food bank supply over the holiday season and takes some pressure off those agencies providing the service well into Februaryâ€Â.
