(New Tecumseth Township, ON) The RACE Against Drugs is a community based drug and alcohol awareness program offered to Grade 5 students across Simcoe- Muskoka. The RACE (Respect, Action, Courage, and Excellence) has been designed to reflect the character values and curriculum taught within the Simcoe County and District of Muskoka school boards. The primary objective of this drug education event is to utilize the sport of auto racing to capture the attention of young people and communicate with them as they move and interact through each pit stop to learn key messages about the importance of a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. The RACE also provides the students with the opportunity to be engaged with the community partners staffing the pit stops.
The event will take place at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre, on Industrial Parkway in Alliston, Ontario on Tuesday the 4th of November 2014 and Wednesday the 5th of November 2014. The event will benefit approximately 500 school students from 8 different schools throughout our communities.
