(STRATFORD AND PERTH COUNTY, ON) Stratford Police Service and the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) want to corporately announce their involvement with the Project Lifesaver Program.
Project Lifesaver is a non-profit technology locating program dedicated to assisting and responding to the challenges faced by the caregivers of loved ones who may wander as a result of Alzheimer’s disease, Autism, Down’s syndrome and dementia disorders. Clients registered with Project Lifesaver wear a wrist band which looks similar to a watch that emits a unique automatic tracking signal. Should a person go missing caregivers are instructed to immediately contact the police.
Selected police officers have been trained as electronic search specialists to conduct searches using specialized radio frequency-tracking equipment.
It has been a community decision to adopt Project Lifesaver. As such the Stratford Police Service and the Perth County OPP are partnering with the Stratford Rotary Club and Victim Services serving Perth County, who are absorbing the set up cost of the program. This leaves a small monthly user fee for individual clients.
This program is being officially rolled out at the Stratford Police Station (17 George St. West in Stratford), on Tuesday December 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. Details of the program will be presented and the locator technology will be displayed. Media questions will be answered at that time.
