On the 6th of September 2014 at approximately 1:30pm, a resident in Barrie’s south-central neighbourhood observed a male going through cars on the street. The resident contacted police and provided a description of the male suspect.
When police arrived in the area they observed a male matching the description a couple streets over from the complainants residence. Officers immediately began investigating the male and discovered he was in possession of a GPS that had been taken from an unlocked vehicle. Police identified the owner of the property who confirmed it was stolen and arrested the male for possession of property obtained by crime.
The 50 year old male was transported to the station and was held for a bail hearing based on his extensive criminal history. He is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime and prowl by night.
Police remind residents to please lock their vehicles at all times to avoid thieves being able to enter their vehicles and steal possessions.
