(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment would like to take this opportunity to recognize the Port Dover Community Policing Committee.
On Thursday, October 31, 2013, members from the Norfolk Detachment along with members of the Port Dover Community Policing Committee attended Orillia, Ontario to accept an Accolade Award for the Leadership Award of Merit in Partnership.
The committee is comprised of committed individuals who have dedicated their time on safety initiatives in Norfolk County. They have been able to engage local artists to create public safety signage and graphics to bring awareness against bullying as well as supporting awareness of drug abuse and addictions.
Several other safety programs have also been their focus, which include the Lock It or Lose It program and Speedwatch campaigns. The committee also worked with the Government to create a Community Safety Zone in order to focus on traffic related safety concerns.

They are all extremely dedicated to maintaining strong relationships in the community and that their continued commitment and overall enthusiasm is nothing less than incredible. It is evident that due to the support of all involved, many people have been positively affected by the Committee’s actionsâ€Â, comments Zvonko Horvat, Detachment Commander of the Norfolk County OPP.
