Police Seek Public’s Assistance Identifying Dirt Bike Driver

(AMHERSTVIEW, ON)- Last night at 8:15 p.m. an officer with the Loyalist detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police attempted to stop a red and white mini dirt bike on Sherwood Avenue in Amherstview.

The bike was being driven with no headlight and turned directly into the path of the police vehicle. The officer braked hard and activated the emergency lights to stop the bike. The male driver swerved to miss the officer’s cruiser and veered onto the grass and fell over.

The suspect driver picked up the bike and took off W/B on Harvard Pl.

The dirt bike was last seen on Manitou Crescent east.

The driver of the bike is described as being a white male, 16-18 years of age, wearing a green road safety jacket, a white and blue BMX helmet, and green camo pants.

Police are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the driver of the dirt bike. Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact the Loyalist OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or anonymously online at tipsubmit.ca
