POLICE PURSUIT ENDS IN CHARGES

(Marmora, ON) – On October 5, 2013 just after 5:30pm Central Hastings O.P.P. observed a vehicle on Madoc Street in the Village of Marmora that failed to stop for two stop signs. When police attempted a traffic stop the driver tried to flee from police by increasing his speed and failing to stop for two more stop signs including at the busy intersection of Burstall Street and Highway #7. The pursuit was terminated due to concern for public safety.

A short time later the vehicle was observed turning on to St. Marks Road in the Municipality of Stirling-Rawdon where it entered a ditch and then drove across the lawn of a residence. The driver 19 year old Austin SATAMO of Tudor & Cashel, ON was subsequently arrested and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer, two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation, and seven other Highway Traffic Act offences including Drive No Licence. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing today.
