Police Pull 80 Year Old Drunk Driver From Burning Vehicle – Cecil BROHM Charged

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) pulled a local driver from a burning vehicle.

On September 9, 2013 officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the OPP responded to a call regarding a vehicle that had been operated in an erratic manner and ended up on the property of a homeowner.

Police attended a residence on Raby’s Shore Drive and observed a vehicle that had become lodged in a rocky area located on the property. The complainant indicated that the driver was actively attempting to get his vehicle loose. This caused the vehicle to begin to smoke.

Upon police arrival there were flames coming from the vehicle but the driver remained in the driver seat. Officers were able to pull the driver from the vehicle and he was transported via ambulance to a local hospital. One officer was also transported via ambulance to a local hospital for precautionary reasons. A second officer was also treated for smoke inhalation at a local hospital for and was then released.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. Cecil BROHM, 80 years of age, of Fenelon Falls, was charged with the offence of driving while having more than 80mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on October 10, 2013.
