Pointing Finger Guns At Police Results In Charges

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A recent vehicle stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police has resulted in two local youths being charged.

On March 16, 2015 an OPP officer was on patrol on Highway 35 near Gray Road when the driver of a passing vehicle raised both hands in a gun style, pointing at the officer. The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle. The driver, a 17 year old male from the former Fenelon Township, was charged with Careless Driving, which carries a fine of $490.00.

Both the driver and one passenger, a 16 year old male youth from the former Fenelon Township area, were also charged with smoking in the vehicle while a youth under 16 years of age was present, contrary to the Smoke Free Ontario Act (SFOA). The offence carries a fine of $155.00.
