(RICHMOND HILL, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit have charged a Richmond Hill man following a seven week on-line child pornography investigation.
In October, 2013 investigators from the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit commenced on-line child pornography investigation. A suspect was identified communicating with undercover officers for the purposes of having sex.
On December 10, 2013 a co-ordinated effort by police from the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the York Regional Police Service resulted in the suspect meeting undercover police officers at a public location in Aurora Ontario. The accused was subsequently arrested by police. As a result of this investigation, two computer devices were seized and are pending forensic analysis.
Mohamed ABDI, age 33 years, of Richmond Hill Ontario is charged with two counts of Making Arrangements or Agreement Regarding Sexual Offences Against a Child, two counts of Luring To Facilitate Sexual Assault and two counts of Luring To Facilitate Invitation To Sexual Touching contrary to the criminal code.
The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to attend a Bail Hearing today, December 12, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket, Ontario.
The investigation is continuing.
