(PERTH COUNTY, ON) Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) officers were busy responding to storm related calls from Thursday evening April 11 until Sunday April 14th. Calls of closed roads due to downed hydro poles and lines, as well as alarm calls and collisions caused by debris on roadways, increased the call volume for officers.
Officers responded to approximately 150, storm related calls throughout the county. These calls in addition to regular calls for service more than doubled the regular workload for officers.
Seven motorists drove into fallen trees or tree limbs on roadways while 3 drivers drove too fast for the icy road conditions causing them to slide into ditches. One tractor trailer struck a low hanging hydro line along road 119 on Friday April 12th, causing a hydro pole to snap.
