(TOWN OF FERGUS, ON) – On September 29, 2014 at approximately 9:50 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a gun being seen in the back seat of a student vehicle at Centre Wellington High School.
Wellington County OPP officers along with the School Resource Officer attended the school and secured the gun which was identified as a pellet gun, from the back of a student’s vehicle. The 16 year old student was identified and arrested. The student was later released unconditionally.
The Wellington County Crime Unit along with the Wellington County Street Crime Unit and the Traffic Management unit assisted in the investigation.
Cooperation between the Upper Grand District School board and members of the OPP facilitated a safe and quick response to the incident.
The investigation is ongoing however no charges are expected to be laid.
