On December 25, 2016 just after 8 p.m., a Kitchener man climbed over the fence which separates Highway 8 and Kingsway Drive in Kitchener. In the process of scaling the fence the male suddenly entered Kingsway Drive where he was struck by a westbound car driven by a Woolwich Township man.
The 32 year old pedestrian sustained a life threatening head injury and was transported to a local hospital. Kingsway Drive was closed for several hours. The investigation into this incident is ongoing and police request any witnesses to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service Traffic Services Branch at 519-653-7700 ext. 8791.
