Pedestrian Fatally Struck By 84 Year Old Driver

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision at a Charlotteville Road 7, Charlotteville, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, September 27, 2015 at approximately 10:22 a.m., OPP and Norfolk County Paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at a Charlotteville Road 7 address.

Through the course of investigation it has been determined that a 51-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario was walking with a 51-year-old female westbound on Charlotteville Road 7 in the eastbound lane. A motor vehicle being operated by an 84-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario was also travelling westbound on Charlotteville Road 7 when the vehicle entered the eastbound lane striking the male.

As a result, the 51-year-old male suffered life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the attending coroner. The female pedestrian and driver of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries.

Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Charlotteville Road 7 was closed between Charlottevile East Quarter Line Road and Turkey Point Road for approximately 7 hours to allow for further investigation.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
