Paul BEACH CHARGED AFTER NEARLY COLLIDING INTO EMERGENCY RESPONDERS

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On Saturday, August 9, 2014 at approximately 1:29 a.m., emergency responders were at the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision which had occurred earlier on Hwy. 6 & 21 near Grey Rd. 17B in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

A 2013 Toyota Venza, which was travelling west bound on Hwy. 6 & 21, swerved to avoid colliding into a parked Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) cruiser which had its emergency lights activated. In doing so, the vehicle narrowly missed striking an Inter-Township Firefighter directing traffic as well as a Hydro One bucket truck which had an employee inside the bucket attempting to restore power in the area.

Police stopped the vehicle and determined that the lone driver had been drinking alcohol.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving and brought to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment for breath tests. The test results indicated he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Paul BEACH, 60, of South Bruce Peninsula, was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 Milligrams and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, September 11, 2014.
