Patient Transfer Vehicle Rolls – Four Injured

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On November 2, 2015 at approximately 8:25 a.m., the Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department; responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 6, south of Emmet Lake Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

The investigation revealed a Voyageur Patient Transfer Vehicle was driving northbound on Highway 6, when it crossed over the centre line and continued into the westbound ditch. Witnesses observed the vehicle roll onto its side.

An attending nurse and a patient travelling in the back of the vehicle were transported to a local hospital by ambulance, with minor non-life threatening injuries. The driver and the attending medical transport personnel were also treated for minor injuries and released.

The 21-year-old male driver operating the Voyageur Patient Transfer Vehicle has been charged with Careless Driving, section 130, of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
