(HALIBURTON, ON) – Members of the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind motorists that a vehicle parked on a highway poses not only an inconvenience to snow removal equipment but a danger to other vehicles having to pass by it on the highway.
Section 170 (12) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) states “No person shall park or stand a vehicle on a highway in such a manner as to interfere with the movement of traffic or the clearing of snow from the highwayâ€
Contravention of section 170(12) of the HTA could result in a fine and the vehicle being towed. The vehicle owner will be responsible for all costs and charges for the removal, care and storage of the vehicle.
