(HURON COUNTY, ON) – You walk up to your vehicle and something catches your eye. A little piece of paper is tucked under your wiper blade and it’s not a flyer. Yes, you’ve guessed it; you have just received a municipal by-law ticket and it’s going to cost you some money.
Naturally, nobody likes to spend money on parking tickets but overnight parking restrictions do serve a purpose by allowing municipal employees to effectively remove snow and ice accumulation from the roads and to assist with street cleaning measures.
Goderich and Exeter are two of Huron County’s largest municipalities and they both have overnight parking restrictions in place.
Goderich has an overnight parking by-law that is effective from November 15th to March 15th. During this seasonal period motorists are prohibited from parking on streets between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.. Please keep in mind this bylaw is in effect regardless of snow accumulation and weather conditions.
Exeter has a year round overnight parking restriction. Motorists are prohibited from parking on streets between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m..
The set fine for Exeter is $30 with an early payment option (within 7 days) set at $25. The set fine for Goderich is $35 with an early payment option (within 7 days) set at $25.
Also, please keep in mind if any vehicle is found parked contrary to the by-law it may be towed and impounded at the owner’s expense.
