(ORILLIA, ON) – Over the weekend, the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received 170 calls for service. Police responded to calls received from Severn Township, Ramara Township, and the City of Orillia. The time frame is from Friday night at 6:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 6:00 a.m.
There were various calls for service consisting of noise complaints, alarms, 911 hang-ups, domestic/family disputes, Liquor Licence Act complaints, assaults, mischief complaints, motor vehicle collisions, break and enters, robberies and impaired drivers.
On June 18, 2016 at approximately 11:40 p.m., officers from the Orillia OPP were dispatched to a robbery that occurred on Mississaga Street West. Officers attended the location and spoke with two males who advised that they were walking on Mississaga Street when two males stopped them and asked them to empty their pockets. One of the males was punched in the head before they complied and gave up a small amount of cash. After investigating the incident officers arrested the two male suspects at a Mississaga Street address.
Kevin MOUNTNEY, 31 years old of Severn Township, has been charged with 2 counts of Robbery. He was held in custody pending a Bail Hearing today in Barrie Criminal Court.
Timothy VAUGHAN, 26 years old of Orillia, has been charged with 2 counts of Robbery. He was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Criminal Court on August 2, 2016.
On June 19, 2016 at approximately 4:31 a.m., officers from the Orillia OPP stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at the intersection of Mississaga Street East and Front Street in the City of Orillia. The female driver was arrested after failing a roadside breath test.
Kaitlynn VERRALL, 25 years old of Orillia, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80 milligrams Blood/Alcohol. She was released on a Promise to Appear in Orillia Criminal Court on July 12, 2016.
