(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On July 9, 2014, just before 11:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at Highway 40 and Colborne Street, when a Ford pickup entered and stopped for the officers.
Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle. Subsequent OPP investigation resulted in the officers seizing a small amount of suspected marihuana.
The 37 year old driver, Michael HEMS, from Chatham, has been charged with Possession of Marihuana Under 30 grams, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
He is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on September 11, 2014, to answer to the charge.
