OPP SEEKING HELP WITH FATAL HIT AND RUN FROM 2008

(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) – It has been 5 years since the fatal hit and run collision that took the life of Lucas SHORTREED age 18 (at the time of his death) of Fergus. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to seek the help from the public in solving this incident. The collision occurred around midnight Friday October 10, 2008 along Wellington Road 17 near Alma, Ontario. Lucas was walking along the side of the road and was struck by an east bound vehicle which fled the scene.

The suspect vehicle was described as a 1995-1997 Neon, white in colour. There may have been damage to the front end, passenger side, windshield or the passenger door window.

Wellington County OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Scott Lawson says” The death of Lucas Shortreed has impacted our community deeply. This investigation has remained open and active and we continue to pursue any leads. We want to bring the Shortreed Family a step further toward closure.”

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this incident should contact the Wellington County OPP at 1 888 310 1122, or the nearest police authority. A reward of $50 000 is still available from the OPP for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
