OPP SEEK PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN FATAL HIT AND RUN

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) -Today at approximately 7:30am Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a fatal fail to remain collision involving a male cyclist on County Road 7 just south of County Road 51 in Guelph-Eramosa Twp.

Investigation revealed that a passing motorist observed a male party as well as a heavily damaged blue bike in the east ditch of County Road 7. Vehicle parts and debris were also observed at the scene.

Wellington County OPP attended the scene along with Guelph-Wellington Emergency Services (EMS). One male party was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Wellington County Traffic Management (TMU) is assisting uniform members with the investigation along with Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) from the Highway Safety Division, Wellington County OPP Crime Unit and the West Region Identification Unit.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and information will be released as it becomes available.

County Road 7 is closed between Highway 6 and County Road 51 during the investigation.
