OPP Rescue Lost Senior Citizen

(North Kawartha Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to assist in locating a missing senior yesterday just before 3:00pm.

A 72 female went walking alone around 12:30pm. Family became concerned and called police when she still had not returned by 3:00pm. OPP members from the Peterborough County Detachment attended the area with ATVs and requested assistance from the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and Aviation Services.

The OPP helicopter unit located the lost female sitting on some rocks in a swampy area. The helicopter pilot was able to direct officers to her location. The uninjured woman was reunited with family members at the cottage. In the spirt of this Thanksgiving weekend, her family members were very grateful to the OPP team who successfully coordinated rescue services.

This is the second time this week OPP specialty services have been utilized to rescue lost persons in North Kawartha Township.
