OPP REMIND HIKERS TO LEAVE VALUABLES HOME

(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) The warm weather brings many people to the hiking trails throughout Wellington County. Unfortunately in the past, criminals have taken advantage of this, and smashed the windows of parked vehicles to grab the valuables inside.

Last year this time, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated numerous thefts from vehicles where windows were smashed and valuables taken from parked vehicles near trails.

OPP would like to remind residents to lock their vehicles. Leave valuables at home or place them in the trunk of their vehicles so they are safely out of sight of would be criminals.

People using the walking trails are requested to note any suspicious persons near trail entry points and to take note of any associated vehicles and licence plates. Should you encounter this please contact the OPP at 1 888 310 1122.
