OPP RECOVER STOLEN PICK UP TRUCK

(CRAMAHE TWP, ON) – Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an investigation in early August 2014 that resulted in a recovery of a stolen vehicle after an officer conducting radar enforcement on County Road 2 east of Colborne, Ontario found discrepancies with the vehicle features and the registration documents.

In October 2007, Niagara Regional Police (NRP) received a report of a stolen gold 2006 Ford F150 pick-up truck with an estimated value at the time of $26,000.

On August 14, 2014 Northumberland OPP were conducting radar enforcement on County Road 2 in Cramahe Township when an officer stopped a male operating a Ford F150 east of Colborne. Documents presented to the officer represented a 2002 model, but features on the truck lead the officer to believe it may possibly be newer than the registration indicated. The officer arrested the male at the scene but released him unconditionally at the time pending further investigation.

The Northumberland OPP Street Response Team (SRT) were notified to follow up the officer’s initial investigation and as a result they confirmed that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) had been altered on the truck with the original VIN coming back to the stolen vehicle reported to NRP in October 2007. The estimated value at time of recovery is $9,000
