OPP Officer Facing Careless Driving Charge

(LAURIER TWP, ON) – On Saturday, September 22, 2018 at approximately 7:00 a.m., members of the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 at Goreville Road involving a police vehicle.

Investigation has determined that the police vehicle was travelling north on Highway 11 responding to a call for service, when the vehicle lost control and drove off of the highway. The driver, and lone occupant in the police vehicle, was transported to a local hospital by Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services where he was treated for minor injuries and then released.

As a result of the investigation, Provincial Constable Brian HENRY, a 16 year member currently serving at the West Parry Sound Detachment, has been charged with careless driving, contrary to section 130(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. The officer remains on active duty.
