(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment is currently investigating an identity theft complaint after being called to a Main Street South, Waterford, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Monday March 10, 2014 at approximately 3:40 p.m., police received a complaint of identity theft from a concerned resident after they received correspondence in the mail for a credit card that they never applied for.
Through the course of investigation it has been determined that unknowns suspect(s) obtained various credit cards in the residents name and proceeded to accumulate approximately $15,000 dollars in charges at various stores.
Maybe you never opened that account, or ordered an additional card, but someone else did, someone who used your name and personal information to commit fraud. When an imposter uses your name, your Social Insurance Number (SIN), your credit card number, or some other piece of your personal information for their use without your knowledge, it’s a crime, pure and simple.
