(BROCKVILLE,ON.) – On the 4th of August 2014 at about 3:30 AM officers from the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a collision on Highway 401 eastbound involving a tractor trailer and a person.
Investigation revealed that a female, driving eastbound, was involved in a single motor vehicle collision. She exited her vehicle and was struck by an eastbound tractor trailer at Long Beach, in Elizabethtown – Kitley Twp., Leeds County.
The female, who was the lone occupant of her vehicle, succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the transport was not injured.
An eastbound detour was set up at County Road 2 to the Brockville exit of eastbound 401 to allow for the investigation. Eastbound Highway 401 opened up to traffic at about 10:30 AM.
Members of the Leeds OPP Detachment are continuing the investigation along with the OPP Technical Traffic Investigations Unit.
