OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, November 16, 2014.

At approximately 10:13 a.m. OPP officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment were dispatched to a two vehicle head on collision on Highway 7 near Lilac Road. The collision necessitated the closure of Highway 7 between Heights Road and Post Road for several hours while the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigation Unit (TCI) conducted an investigation.

Initial information indicates that a male driving a Toyota CHB crossed the centre line and struck a Kenworth dump truck. The driver of the Toyota, Spencer BURCHALL, 42 years of age, of Emily Township, died as a result of the collision. The driver of the truck was transported via ambulance to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The investigation is on-going.
