(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision. The two vehicle collision occurred on Hwy #35 just south of Hwy #7 within the City of Kawartha Lakes.
On October 23, 2013 shortly after 8:00 p.m. a car was exiting a private drive on the west side of Hwy #35 and was struck broadside by a pick-up truck travelling southbound. The passenger of the car, Arlene BOWINS, 71 years of age, of Lindsay died as a result of the collision. The driver of the car, a 78 year old Lindsay man, was taken to the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay with serious injuries. The driver of pick-up truck, a 31 year old man from the former Manvers Township and his two young children were also transported to the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay with minor injuries.
The highway was closed while the OPP’s Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) completed their investigation and was reopened at approximately 11:30 p.m.
