(SUDBURY, ON)-The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that took place on Highway 69 near Richard Lake earlier today.
At approximatley 3:00 PM, members of the Sudbury OPP detachment responded to three seperate collisions that took place at the same location on Highway 69 within a very short time period. In the first collision, a southbound mini van went out of control and rolled over in the northbound ditch. The two occupants received minor injuries and were taken to Health Sciences North.
Seconds later a southbound mini van skidded out of control and went into the southbound ditch in the same location. There were no injuries.
Just moments after that, a third collision took place when southbound car crossed the centre line and was struck by a northbound mini van. A male passegner in the southbound car was killed. The three other occupants were airlifted to Health Sciences North with serious injuries. The four occupants in the northbound car were also injured and taken to Health Sciences North with minor injuries.
Highway 69 has been closed in both directions for the last several hours while Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and a Collision Reconstructionist examine the scene.
