(COLBORNE, ON) – Just after 1:00 pm on Friday, January 3, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended to the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Percy Street in the village of Colborne, Ontario which involved two pick-up trucks colliding into a house.
At approximately 1:04 pm a red Ford Ranger was travelling westbound, downhill on Park Street in Colborne and was approaching the Park Street / Percy Street intersection. The Ford failed to stop for the stop sign posted for the westbound traffic. A white Toyota Tundra was travelling northbound on Percy Street when it was struck by the Ford as it went through the intersection. Both trucks then collided into the east side of a white sided house that was on the northwest corner of the intersection.
The occupants of the home were at the rear of the residence and were not injured. Both drivers were not injured as well. There was significant damage to the house and trucks but an estimated damage cost is not available at this time.
Northumberland OPP detachment’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigator (TTCI) attended to assist with the investigation.
Percy Street is closed in both directions to traffic while OPP investigated and the removal of both trucks and the house is properly secured to prevent further structural damage. OPP are asking motorists to take an alternate route to downtown Colborne if necessary or avoid the area completely.
