(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – On Wednesday February 19, 2014, at 12:58AM, officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a missing person at the Blue Mountains Resort.
Upon arrival of the police, a search was already underway by staff and security at the Resort and at approximately 1:28AM, a male snowboarder, who was wearing a helmet, was located suffering from life threatening injuries in a wooded area adjacent to the ski hill near the South Base Lodge.
Grey County Paramedics transported the 20-year old male victim from Caledon to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Although next-of-kin notifications are complete, the name of the deceased will not be released until after the completion of a post mortem examination which is scheduled to take place at a yet to be determined time at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital.
