(CENTRETON, ON) – On Sunday March 2, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a theft of forestry equipment from an area in Alnwick-Haldimand Township were multiple pieces of equipment had been stolen from a forestry operation.
OPP attended to the forestry operation in the area of Gleason’s Corner Road and Carmel Road near Centreton where a flatbed transport trailer loaded with several pieces of equipment had been stored. The owner had returned to the location to move the equipment to a new location after a two week break. The owner and OPP determined it was last seen on Monday February 17, 2014 at the location where it was supposed to be left.
The stolen trailer and equipment is described as indicated:
A 1995 blue Titan 6 axle flatbed trailer with a 5th wheel hook up which would require a transport truck for removal. Estimated value is $8,000.
A 20†yellow Timber jack feller buncher head with a John Deere carrier that is 4’ x 3’ in height and width. Estimated value is $15,000
NOTE: The header mounts to a large piece of logging equipment similar to a high hoe. The feller buncher is a series of clam claws or a large saw device at the bottom used for cutting and moving trees.
Two tires mounted on cap rims for a skidder machine – 6’ by 2’. Estimated value is $5,000 each. (Total $10,000)
Two “double ring†tire chains which mount on the skidder tires. Estimated value is $8,000. (Total $16,000)
Total estimated value of this theft is $49,000.
Northumberland OPP and detachment Street Response Team (SRT) members are continuing to investigate.
