(SEVERN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 12 near Fesserton in the Township of Severn.
On November 9, 2013 at approximately 6:10 a.m. a Peterbuilt box style delivery truck was travelling westbound on Highway 12. A Honda Civic was travelling eastbound on Highway 12 in the westbound lane. The truck driver moved into the eastbound lane and at the same time the Honda moved into the eastbound lane and a head on collision occurred.
The driver of the truck, a 44 year old male from London, Ontario was not injured. He was the only occupant in this vehicle.
Robert MacDougall, 59 years, of Waubaushene was the lone occupant in the Honda and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Members of the Severn Fire Department responded and assisted at the scene.
The OPP TTCI (Technical Traffic Collision Investigation) Unit responded and assisted with the investigation. The highway has been closed since the beginning of the investigation and police are still at scene, however it is anticipated the highway will be re-opening shortly.
The investigation is still ongoing.
