OPP INVESTIGATE FATAL CRASH OF HIGHWAY 11

(Gravenhurst, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Bracebridge detachment is investigating a single motor vehicle crash on Highway 11 Northbound in Gravenhurst that resulted in one fatality and one occupant with serious injury.

On November 3, 2013 at approximately 1:55 am members of the Bracebridge OPP responded to the scene of the crash on Highway 11 Northbound at Ure Road in the town of Gravenhurst. A single vehicle was found crashed into a rock cut, with no other vehicles involved.

The 31 year-old passenger Michael MICHALEK of Midland was killed in the collision.

The driver of the vehicle was airlifted to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries.

The Highway was temporarily closed for the investigation conducted by members of the Bracebridge OPP detachment and Technical Collision Investigators (TCI). The Highway was opened shortly after.

The investigation is ongoing as to the cause of the collision.
