(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON)- Throughout the day members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have responded dozens of stranded vehicles on the HWY 402 throughout the Strathroy area.
Earlier this morning OPP were required to close a section of HWY 402 at Kerwood Road for over an hour as emergency crews worked to clear a tractor trailer and pickup truck from the center median.
Police are currently on scene of a single vehicle roll over located on the W/B side of HWY 402 at Hickory Drive. Police have learned that a pickup truck that left the roadway and rolled into the ditch. The driver has been transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Police are asking the motorists to slow down and drive according to the road and weather conditions. Today there are times of heavy, blowing snow and numerous locations black ice. Visibility can be dramatically affected these factors and road conditions can quickly deteriorate.
Driving too fast for the road conditions is the number one cause of winter collisions. Even on a sunny day, black ice is a constant danger and drivers should always assume its present.
