(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) On Wednesday September 4, 2013 at approximately 8:20 a.m. a motorist disobeyed the direction of a crossing guard in the Town of Parry Sound.
The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted regarding a vehicle driving through an intersection that was controlled by a Crossing Guard. The Crossing Guard had a red STOP sign held up and children were crossing the street. A motorist drove up to the intersection as the Crossing Guard waved the red STOP sign in the direction of the vehicle for the driver to stop. The vehicle continued through the intersection.
With the assistance of the Crossing Guard and several witnesses, Police were able to investigate the incident. As a result, the driver was served with a Provincial Offence Notice contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
Police would like to thank those that took the time to report this driving offence. It is the responsibility of each driver to obey traffic laws and to give their full attention to the road while driving.
