OPP CHARGES MAN FROM FAIL TO REMAIN COLLISION

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – On November 19, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 9-1-1 call of a possible impaired driver in the Town of Parry Sound. Several minutes later the same caller, reported a fail to remain collision. The possible impaired driver had driven his vehicle into the back of the caller’s car. The complainant was able to identify the driver and the vehicle however Police were not able to locate the suspect at that time.

On December 8, 2013 officers from the West Parry Sound detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop on Emily Street in Parry Sound. The vehicle and driver were identified as the suspects in the fail to remain collision. Jason SZLEK 31 years of age from Parry Sound was arrested and charged with the following:

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

Fail to Stop at a Scene of an Accident, contrary to the CCC

Class G2 Licence Holder – B.A.C. above 0, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

Fail to Notify Change of Address, contrary to the HTA

The accused will be held for Bail Court to answer to his charges.
