(TRENTON, ON) – The Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – East, Drug Enforcement Unit were involved in a joint forces investigation with the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS), the Kingston detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Kingston Police involving the sale of controlled substances in the Trenton area.
As a result of the brief investigation, on July 29, 2014, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 and arrested Michael SPEARS, 27 of Kingston, ON., a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Two (2) search warrants were executed in Kingston and Trenton resulting in the seizure of cocaine and $2880 in Canadian currency.
The accused is charged with:
1. possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance
2. Possession of a controlled substance and
3. Property obtained by crime under $5000
He was released on a Promise to Appear and Officer-In-Charge Undertaking to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville on September 18, 2014.
