(Prince Edward County, ON)â€â€On July 16, 2014 at 5:00pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police Prince Edward County detachment attended the Sandbanks Provincial Park regarding a motor vehicle collision.
The police investigation revealed that one vehicle had rear ended the other. Both drivers exited their vehicles and began to argue. As one driver placed a call to police, the other driver returned to his vehicle and drove off after having struck the complainant with his vehicle.
The OPP soon located the suspect traveling on County Road 18. The driver appeared to have been consuming alcohol. The male driver, 38-year old Jamus KANELLOS of Quinte West, ON was arrested and is charged with the following:
Operating While Impaired, contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Operation with Over 80mgs of Alcohol, contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Uttering Threats, contrary to Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Assault with a Weapon, contrary to Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Careless Driving, contrary to Section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act.
Fail To Remain, contrary to Section to 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act.
The accused was later released from police custody on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton on August 06, 2014. The victim was not injured.
