Officers Find Marihuana Plants at Traffic Stop

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint positioned at Lucknow Line and Nile Road has resulted in three males facing charges following a traffic stop. At approximately 9:30 p.m. on June 16, 2013 a white Toyota Sequoia entered the R.I.D.E program. While speaking with the occupants officers observed in plain view marihuana plants in the rear box of the SUV. A search of the vehicle was initiated which resulted in the officers locating and seizing several marihuana plants.

As a result, the driver Bruce BROKENSHIRE, 41, from Toronto, passenger Douglas BROKENSHIRE, 44, from Toronto and passenger Richard GORDON, 46 from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh have been charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana over 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Production of Cannabis Marihuana contrary to section 7(1) CDSA.

All three have scheduled court appearances on July 29, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
