(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) Shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday April 24, 2011 a Perth County OPP officer on patrol in Mitchell came across a heavily damaged car on Waterloo St.
The vehicle was left abandoned with the keys in the ignition and the airbags had been deployed. The vehicle had struck a hydro pole, breaking the pole and knocking light standard off the top. It had also struck trees and rocks on private property. The operator had attempted to reverse the vehicle and drive away but due to the extensive damage was unable to do so.
The owner of the vehicle who resides on Adelaide St. in Mitchell was spoken to by police and it was confirmed that the vehicle had been taken from the driveway at 1:15 a.m. The keys had been left inside the vehicle.
