(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – A member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) has been issued a provincial offence notice following a collision on March 1, 2014.
The investigation revealed that the officer had stopped on the shoulder of the 401 Highway in Oxford County to check on the well-being of a motorist. Once clear of the call for service, the officer began backing up the fully marked cruiser in order to depart from the scene and struck another marked cruiser that had pulled in behind to assist.
No one was injured during the collision and there was minor damage reported to both vehicles. As a result of the collision, Provincial Constable Toni Reinholt, an 18 year member of the OPP serving with the HDS, has been issued provincial offence notice for Starting from Stopped Position-Not in Safety contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
