(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) kept busy over the weekend with alcohol related driving offences.
On May 30, 2015 at approximately 02:30 a.m. a Wellington County OPP officer observed a motor vehicle on Hwy. 6, weaving on the roadway and driving at varying speeds. A traffic stop was initiated and physical signs of impairment were observed. The driver was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for further testing.
Steven IRVING age 38 of Fergus has been charged with over 80 and Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 19, 2015 to answer to the charges.
On May 31, 2015 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Wellington County OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Wellington Road 39, Guelph-Eramosa Twp. A vehicle was observed to be swerving as it approached the program and officers suspected the male driver to be under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a fail.
Adam MAZZIOTTI, age 29 of Guelph was charged with over 80 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 19, 2015 to answer to the charge.
On May 31, 2015 at approximately 6:40 p.m. Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Side road 7, Wellington North Twp. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries received in the collision. He was later transported by air ambulance to London Health Sciences.
Henry CAMPBELL age 20 of the Town of Minto has been charged with over 80 and Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
In each incident the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for a period of seven days and their drivers’ licences suspended for 90 days as per statute.
